Our focus is to serve classic French dishes with a modern twist, with an extensive wine and beverage list committed to classic French cuisine. Our menu is built around locally grown produce and locally raised meats, with an emphasis on freshness and seasonal ingredients.
When we began planning for the restaurant, it was clear that making French cuisine accessible and creating a welcoming and relaxed environment was key. Franco is a place where patrons can learn about ingredients, wine and food pairings, and French cuisine in general, and feel welcome to sit back and take in the atmosphere.
We also feature a full-service outdoor wine garden, chef’s table, private room for large groups, and a separate bar area. Franco’s décor highlights old world French influences, and aged features with contemporary touches, accenting the building’s historical features.
ABOUT THE SPACE
The restaurant is adjacent to Soulard Market at the corner of 8th and Carroll, in the Soulard Market Apartments building. This $32 Million development venture will house 132 residential apartments on 4 floors when complete, in addition to the street-level commercial space.
Originally opened as one of 6 Hamilton-Brown Shoe Company buildings, the Soulard Market Apartments building was originally completed in 1899. It is one of only two of the original complex buildings left in the city. The building was later home to the Welsh Baby Carriage Factory, also known as the “sunshine factory” because of the large number of windows. The factory closed in 1994.
